With its speed now upped to as much as 67,500 containers
an hour, the newly developed Krones Contirol HS labelling machine outperforms
all its predecessors.
High-speed wrap-around labelling at up to
67,500 containers an hour
Now Krones is lending wings to wrap-around labelling. With
outputs of up to 67,500 containers an hour, the newly developed Contiroll
Highspeed labeller outperforms all its predecessors. This means that in future,
even in high-speed lines, only a single Contiroll need be used to cover the
entire spectrum of speeds involved, or a second Contiroll station can be
dispensed with.
This high speed capability is made possible by new drive
concepts for the label web reel holder and the cutting unit. For the former, a
servodrive has now replaced the eddy-current brake previously used, permitting
immediate start-ups and fast deceleration of reel unwinding. And the newly
developed cutting unit is driven by its own servomotor.
One station for all label lengths
The (fast) change-over possible for the vacuum cylinder,
which is constructed without any gripper fingers, in itself means that different
container diameters and speed ranges can be handled on one and the same machine.
At the same rpm, but with different vacuum cylinder pitches, The Contiroll
Highspeed can produce machine speeds ranging from 22,500 to 67,500 containers an
hour, with label lengths from 240 mm to max. 600 mm.
Changing over from one type of container to another takes
no more than about 10 minutes. The Krones Contiroll HS not only enables
inexpensive label papers to be used, but also provides fully automatic labelling
of innumerable different film types.
Containers guided by neck handling
In the previous version of the Contiroll, the containers
were guided in the infeed and discharge starwheels using conventional handling
parts. The Contiroll HS now also provides an option for neck handling, which is
highly advantageous for labelling empty PET bottles.
The neck-handling-starwheels ensure controlled mechanical
container guidance with dependable transfer operations. They are suitable for
different container sizes and shapes, so need not be replaced when changing over
to a different type of container – thus cutting make-ready times quite
substantially.
Lightning-fast: labelling without any label loss
The newly developed Contiroll HS reacts lightning fast if
no container arrives for labelling. If for some reason the blow-moulding machine
does not supply a pitch with a bottle, a gap will ensue. With conventional
labeller designs, the machine would nonetheless produce a label, and drop it
into the machine, which may lead to operational malfunctions. The Contiroll HS,
however, reacts up to a working output of 40,000 containers an hour, so fast
that a label does not get as far as being fed into the gap. The Contiroll HS
doesn’t have much time to accomplish this. At 40,000 containers an hour, a “gap
label” corresponds to an off time of just 0.09 seconds.
